YSSD hosted our first Science Policy Week in May. The week started off with an Introduction to Science Policy (led by our YSSD leadership team), followed by two career Q&A panels. The first panel focused on legislative science policy, with panelists Dr. Lizzie Hunsaker, Dr. Reshma Ramachandran, and Dr. Georgia Lagoudas. The second panel was centered on the role of NGO science policy and hosted representatives from NASEM, ASBMB, and UCS, featuring Dr. Liana Vaccari, Dr. Raechel McKinley, and Dr. Jacob Carter. We are very thankful for our panelists’ time and discussion regarding careers in science policy and fellowship programs that help bridge the gap between graduate school and science policy careers.
